"Every creature who lives out a day on this world deserves their respect of place. They must be recipients of the gift of compassion as rightful individuals. The citizens and descendants of the wild nations can be our teachers as well as our guides, so long as we listen well to the lessons of their lives." -B. Sands

All About Us
Tummy Ups and Tails a Waggin'

Located in the Rocky Mountains of Idaho, near historic Idaho City, Robie Dobies has been enthusiastic about high quality, true blooded, healthy and family friendly European Dobermans since 2021. Our puppies are released with limited registration, raised in home, with proper handling and socialization with children and adults, and positively reinforced interactions with other dogs, house pets and farm animals, and are under exquisite veterinary care from the Treasure Valley.
We are also passionate about the future of the breed and are working behind the scenes to create BFL Certified Longevity Lines with extensive medical testing and enrollment with the Doberman Diversity Project, and select breeding. A clear or negative DCM result does not determine aged outcomes, only youthful ones, based on the current breed standard. Be sure to sign up for our Mailing List, keep an eye on our Blog for BFL updates and announcements and education. Please, drop us a note to inquire how you can get involved with the Doberman Diversity Project, and help save the breed, with the dog or puppy you have right now!
Finding our pups the right home is an absolute priority. We get to know the personality of each puppy and acclimate them for companion life. We do not train them for guardianship, work, or sport. If desired, we strongly suggest starting such training only at eighteen weeks of age for ease of handling in adult temperament. We do work on basic obedience skills right away, but at eight weeks of age, a puppy should consistently, persistently and clearly begin the basics of Safe Dog Etiquette, learning the commands of; "stay," "come," "drop," "leave it," and "down." We encourage you to continue such after adoption. Dobermans respond best to love praise, and food rewards. Our litters are planned with loving care, to honor the breed, to improve longevity genetics, and to help folks open their hearts for the pet and companion they have always wanted.
Serving the Pacific North West. No Shipping. Limited Litters. Meet-ups and deliveries available anywhere in the Idaho Treasure Valley, Magic Valley, Sun Valley, or Boise County areas. Photo and video sharing available. We are not open to the public, to keep our new born puppies, and grounds, safe and clear before vaccinations.

Facts and Stats
European Doberman Care
Dobermans require a lot of exercise, training, and socialization. They need at least 2 hours of physical activity a day. Early socialization and obedience training are also crucial for helping them develop into well-adjusted, balanced dogs. They also enjoy a good clip of couch potato time and a towel or blanket to suck on and shred, as this is there ultimate preferred pacification and down time, aside from following you to the bathroom.
Energetic and athletic, they need the daily exercise to stay physically and mentally healthy, and it is extremely important for heart heath. Activities such as long walks, runs, and playtime in a secure, fenced area are ideal.
Regular brushing can help remove loose hair though their short, smooth coat requires minimal grooming. Dirt baths, when they roll around outside, are great for removing loose fur and built up oils, and bathing as needed or desired.
Regular check-ups, and echo-grams, with your preferred veterinarian are important for detecting and addressing potential health issues standard to the breed or from environmental impacts.
Dobermans do best in a home with active owners who can provide them with the space and exercise and attention they need. These are deeply loving, loyal and protective "velcro" dogs. They can adapt to apartment living, so long as they get enough daily exercise. They adore children and dogs of other breeds and can be trained to appreciate other pets, though they can have a strong prey instinct. Immediate desensitization and familiarity are required for a positive outcome.

European Bloodline Requirements
In Europe, Dobermans have more stringent breeding requirements than in other regions, including a test called the ZTP, which assesses a dog's mental stability, social skills, nerves, and working performance. They also tend to be larger and more muscular, with a strong, protective temperament and higher energy levels compared to American Dobermans.
This working test is mandatory in Europe for dogs to be eligible for breeding. It evaluates the dog's mental stability, social skills, nerves, and working performance. The test components include; exercises like walking through a crowd, identifying friendly vs. suspicious people, remaining calm during a gunshot, and a protection test where the dog must attack and bite a decoy.

European Doberman Size & Weight
European Dobermans can be larger than their American counterparts.
Males typically stand 27 to 28 inches (68-72 cm) at the withers and weigh 80 to 105 pounds (36-48 kg).
Females stand 25 to 27 inches (63-68 cm) and weigh 65 to 85 pounds (29-39 kg).
They have a heavier build, thicker bone structure and blunter muzzle. They often have a deeper red coat and a broader and more square-shaped head, a broader, thicker chest and a slow neck rise from the body.
Temperament:
They often have a strong, protective drive with higher energy levels, making them well-suited for working roles.
They are intelligent but can be stubborn, so early basic behavior training is essential. Socialization is also vital for preventing territoriality and stranger anxiety. Most have a high prey drive, so immediate socialization with your smaller pets or livestock is important. Positive, food reinforcement methods work best.
Color Variations:
They are commonly bred in black or brown with rust-red markings.

A DCM Friendly Diet
An appropriate large breed diet for their weight and age is recommended. Dobermans frequently are allergic to chicken and chicken bi-products and do very poorly on beef or red meats and need a feed containing grain, and do well on lamb. Grains are essential in their heart health diet. We do not recommend grain free. Feed ingredients with (or supplemented with), Taurine, Omega 3s, and L-Carnitine for heart health and longevity are ideal. Talk to your Veterinarian about the necessity of supplementing with CoenzymeQ10, and B Vitamins 6, 9 and 12, with the addition of probiotics, specifically Lactobacillus plantarum. Many owners prefer a raw foods diet, with grain, or minimal processing and little to no fillers. Choose foods that are low in saturated and trans fats. Healthy choices include lean meats, poultry without skin, fish. Absolutely no peas, pea starch, legumes, lentils, potatoes, sweet potatoes, chickpeas, beans or root vegetables should be in their feed other then carrots, as those foods block the absorption of the heart healthy nutrient, Taurine. One egg contains 350mgs of Taurine. Organ meats, such as hearts, are an excellent source of both Taurine and CoQ10.
